“When soldiers spoil your sleep”

Bill Fay – “‘Til the Christ Come Back” from Time of the Last Persecution (1971)

Like many singer-songwriters before and since him, Bill Fay had a prophet complex. His lyrics are biblical in tone and there seems to be an assumed, religious gravity about many of his songs on this album.

Uncut magazine called him “the missing link between Nick Drake, Ray Davies, and Bob Dylan.”

That means absolutely nothing to me.
